Thinking Skills by Professor Milan Pandya

INTRODUCTION:-

From Ancient to nowadays every poet, writer, critic, philosopher, and every literature person said that thinking is must. If you say that only literature person that is not true but every person who shows their creativity has perspective that if you want to do anything we need to think first. Without thinking we are zero, we are nothing, not only human being but every living being it is earth live based on their thinking. So, to know this topic more deeply, on the day of 13 and 14 August 2022 we had this knowledgeable workshop about thinking skills by professor Milan Pandya.

PROFESSOR MILAN PANDYA:-

Professor Milan Pandya is a teacher, PhD student, trainer and educator. He is in field of thinking skills. He has his hand tight on Critical, Creative and Design Thinking, English Language Teaching & Communication Skills.

WHAT WE LEARNT?

FIRST DAY:-

-13 August 2022

There are so many types of thinking, but the major type of thinking are only three:-

1. Critical thinking
2. Creative thinking 
3. Design thinking

Some teachers gave examples that sometimes it's complicated to understand but sir start with very interesting example of critical thinking.

Behind this beautiful photo of Kareena Kapoor Khan she is smiling cause in this soap ad this soap has discount of 3 rupees. But as we know that she is like millionaire her husband family belongs to nawab so there is no logic that she is smiling on 3 rupees discount. Here we need to think critically that she is smiling cause for this ad she got paid crores of rupees. That's how we think critically and sir also gave us this logical definition or we can say Mantra how to criticize something. 

 

" If something is true what else has to be true with that."

Sir gave also different examples for this critical thinking. In this example he included a scene from 'yeh hai Mohabbatein' serial.

In this picture we can clearly see that how perfectly Ishita made this beautiful hairstyle and done her makeup perfectly even she is injured. So there is no logic that why she can't do plates of saree.

He gave another example of about Satish Shah's Twitter post. 

In his Twitter post he climbed that this is the same tiranga his mother got during quite India movement in 1942. If we know history about Indian dhwaj with clearly notice that design of this tiranga declared in 1947. Before the 1947 we had different three types of tiranga design during the different years.

Behind this picture we can critically analysed about this mistake if we know thinking critically.

Sir gave another definition of thinking that he made and follow.

" Thinking about thinking in order to improve thinking."

Sir also taught us about what is context, how it works and context is everything. 

He also gave an example of how context matters.

We have huge respect for our Indian army, there is no doubt that we proud to be Indian. With first look this picture looks very normal. We also respect not only Indian army but every army that exist. But in this tweet Shraddha Kapoor said that we are proud to be Indian but she didn't check this photo was this is not Indian army in ice mountain Or in Glacier. But this is different country army. But followers of her mean this thing and spread this photo too false context. So with this example we clearly see that context is everything. 

On the same day we also know about difference between possible and plausible with very logical and knowledgeable examples. We also discussed about so many conspiracy theories. In these theories we talk about Qanon conspiracy theory, Divya Bharati conspiracy theory, shree Devi conspiracy theory, Bhagat Singh Gandhi ji conspiracy theory and many more theories with which we can think critically, logically, possibly, and plausibly. 

He also told us about what is box story. He gave example about 'Alif Laila' ( 1001 night ). 

According to him there is three types of critical way to think:- 

• Logical thinking
• Rational thinking
• Scientific thinking

He gave idea that what is fact? According to him fact is fact it can't change if anyone can believe or not. 

Example:- Earth is round. its fact. But if particular person don't believe that Earth is round and said that Earth is flat so it doesn't matter and earth can't change it's direction. 

Books and teachers these are two major reason we gain information.

According to his belief :- 

" Your teacher might be wrong. Learn to think for yourself."

Second day:- 

14 August 2022

On the second day we follow Aristotle thinking that sir taught us by very creative example with an activity.

In this activity you told us to differentiates this stuff in many different categories.

Fruits, Flower, Danger sign, Things which can fly, Things which can harm, Songs included shown stuff from photo, Things which can carry something, Fast food, Musical instrument, Lickers, Electronics, Living and Non living being, Religion symbols, Gift, Round things, Square things, Things which includes in playground, Scholarly things, Things related to education, Quotes which included shown stuff from photo, Dialogues which included shown stuff from photo, Things which are temporary, Things which can stay for long time, Things which shown creativity, Cheese related to cartoon, Gadgets related to cartoon, Weapons, Solid, Things which melts, Things which can use for mixture, Life saving stuff, Metal stuff, Literary works which included shown stuff from photo, Things which go up and down, Things which use for transport stuff and many more categories.

In the end he made us to think about different situations that he gave and called this activity thought experiments. 

In this thought experiment gave us situation like we are standing on a road or small path and in front of us there is railway crossing line, on first railway line there is 5 people and the other railway line there is only one person and near us we have leaver or we can say control of the life of them. So now we need to think quickly what we do in this situation, we can share a one person, or we can save five people life with pull the leaver. 

This Activity in real sense fall us into really troubled situation. 

In the end of this workshop we have more knowledge, more words in our vocabulary, and a different point of you to see the world and Literature. By joining this workshop in weekend holiday its worth gaining.
